Vanessa Law, a dedicated Kaska Dena citizen, is deeply connected to her heritage and community. Married to Darren, she is the proud mother of two sons, Marshal and Ryder, and a daughter, Jayde. Vanessa is the daughter of Shirley Laverdure (McMillan) and the late Les Laverdure. 

After obtaining her University Degree in Natural Resource Science, Vanessa returned to her roots to serve her community in land management in Lower Post. Over the last twenty years, she has been integral to the Lands Position, overseeing various land-related projects for the Daylu Dena Council. Her roles have spanned from being the Local Firesmart Representative to the Emergency Operations Center Director. 

A pivotal figure in the creation of the Daylu Dena Land Guardian Program, now known as the Dane nan yḗ dāh, Vanessa's dedication to land stewardship and community service is evident. This program plays a crucial role in the protection and management of Kaska traditional territories, ensuring that the lands are preserved for future generations. 

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Vanessa was a steadfast board member of the Watson Lake Daycare for nearly sixteen years, demonstrating her commitment to the well-being of the community's children. She now actively supports the Watson Lake Youth Hockey Club, fostering community engagement and youth development. 

Vanessa's work embodies the Kaska Dena values of respect for the land, cultural heritage, and community. Her contributions are vital to the sustainable management and preservation of the Kaska traditional territories, supporting a vibrant and resilient future for Kaska people.
